Objective: To test a smoking relapse prevention program for Navy women recently graduated from recruit training. Methods: Motivational materials were mailed to women at critical relapse points following recruit training graduation. Smoking was assessed at 6 months post-graduation through a self-report survey. Results: A higher proportion of women exposed to the mail intervention had tried to quit smoking, although there was no significant differences in the overall relapse rate between intervention and control groups. Conclusion: The smoking relapse prevention tested did not succeed.
