Objective:
To identify determinants for participation and to assess which factors
most significantly influenced intention to participate in CPR classes
among individuals aged 60 and older. Methods: 210 older adults
in Tarrant County, Texas responded to a self-administered questionnaire
designed to determine their willingness to participate in CPR training.
Results: A relationship was found between behavioral intention
and employment status, age, desire for CPR on self, and desire for
CPR on others. Conclusion: Older Americans are willing to
undego CPR training, but encounter a number of barriers that prevent
them from taking CPR classes.
